MENGAPA MAHASISWA PUTUS KULIAH SEBELUM LULUS?

 Fenomena berkurangnya jumlah mahasiswa baru yang mendaftar ulang di tahun kedua perlu mendapat perhatian serius dari mahasiswa dan instansi terkait. Putus kuliah merupakan masalah penting dalam pendidikan tinggi yang dapat menurunkan kinerja perguruan tinggi. Putus kuliah diartikan sebagai perilaku meninggalkan perguruan tinggi sebelum lulus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali permasalahan putus kuliah di perguruan tinggi, dengan mengidentifikasi karakteristik mahasiswa yang berpotensi putus kuliah. Metode penelitian dilakukan secara kualitatif melalui studi pustaka dari perspektif sosiologis terkait integrasi akademik dan sosial, serta dari perspektif psikologis terkait pola pikir dalam pendidikan, motivasi diri (atribusi), dan ciri-ciri kepribadian yang mengarah pada perbedaan individu. Analisis data dilakukan secara tematik. Bukti empiris mendukung karakteristik individual tertentu dari mahasiswa yang berniat untuk bertahan atau meninggalkan perguruan tinggi. Implementasi studi menunjukkan perlunya penguatan motivasi diri dan psikologi positif. Rekomendasi untuk penelitian selanjutnya perlunya desain penelitian terkait dengan validasi temuan.

 Abstract
 The phenomenon of the reduced number of new students re-registering in the second year need serious attention from students and institutions. Drop-out of college is an important issue in higher education that can reduces the performance of college. Drop-out of college is defined as the behavior of leaving college prematurely before graduation. This study aims to explore the issues of drop-out of college, by identifying the characteristics of students who have the potential to drop-out of college. The research method is carried out qualitatively through literature review from sociological perspective related to academic and social integration, as well as from psychological perspective related to mindset in education, self-motivation (attribution), and personality traits that lead to individual differences. Data analysis was carried out thematically. Empirical evidence supports certain individual characteristics of students who intend to stay or leave college. The implementation of the study shows the need to strengthen self-motivation and positive psychology. Recommendations for future research on the need for research design are related to the validation of the findings.
