Program changes are required in education to close the gap between present and future teaching and learning technology. During the learning process, using applications as instructional material is a workable strategy. Finding out how to use the Cake Application in English classes for students and examining the opportunities and difficulties encountered in doing so at Vocational High School 8, Palembang, are the goals of this research. Data were gathered by the researcher using observation, questionnaires, and documentation, all of which were qualitative methods. The outcome demonstrates that the Cake application is successfully used in the English language learning process and can boost students' motivation to learn the language. The Cake app is user-friendly, free of intrusive advertisements, packed with features, and offers a ton of videos arranged according to quiz level and category. Additionally, students can improve their grades and fix errors with the Cake program. One of the difficulties in utilizing this software for both students and teachers is that not every curricular item can be found in the Cake app, therefore educators have to make adjustments. The Internet connection, smartphone batteries, smartphone storage capacity, and the requirement for hearing aids for the listening phase were more issues.
2024-01-10T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Steviana Kristanti, Herlina Herlina, Ferri Hidayad https://jurnal.univpgri-palembang.ac.id/index.php/esteem/article/view/14650 IMPROVING THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS’ WRITING ABILITY THROUGH PROBLEM BASED LEARNING AT SMKN 1 PENUKAL 2024-01-31T03:57:27+00:00 Candra Dewi Cahyaningrum candradewicahyaningrum@gmail.com Masagus Firdaus candradewicahyaningrum@gmail.com Mulyadi candradewicahyaningrum@gmail.com
The purpose of this study was to improve the writing abilities of eleventh grade students at SMKN 1 Penukal by using Problem-Based Learning in the academic year 2023–2024. 34 students participated in the study, which used a Collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR) design. This was the first part of the study investigated the role of teachers’ beliefs in the implementation of curriculum reform in the Indonesian education system context. This study looked specifically into three kinds of teachers' beliefs which were essential in the preparation of teaching in the context of policy reform. The investigation was approached through multiple case study methodology by selecting four senior high school teachers from different public schools. Data were gathered from interviews. The result revealed that four participating teachers shared similar views about the nature of knowledge and students’ abilities. Nevertheless, beliefs about teaching were varied among individual participants. Two of the four teacher participants believed in student-centered instructional models, which were categorized into teaching beliefs that supported curriculum reform. Nevertheless, the other two participating teachers’ self-reported beliefs about teaching were situated between student-centered instructional learning and teacher-centered instructional learning models. They seemed to value both instructional learning models. Their teaching beliefs about teaching could not be categorized into beliefs that supported or inhibited the reform.
2024-01-10T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Hanni Yukamana
