Military operational readiness is highly dependent on aerobic capacity and optimal body composition. Conventional training programs are often saturated so that they require functional and rhythmic movement-based interventions that are adaptive to specific tasks, such as the National Wing Gymnastics (SATAIR). This study aims to test the effect of SATAIR implementation on VO2max, Body Mass Index (BMI), and body composition (percentage of fat and muscle mass) of TNI Air Force soldiers at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base. The research method uses an experimental design in the form of a two-group pretest-posttest design. Subjects totaled 30 male soldiers who were randomly divided into an experimental group (n=15, given a 16-session SATAIR intervention) and a control group (n=15, performing routine physical activity). Data collection instruments include a Bleep Test to measure VO2max, a stadiometer and digital scale for BMI, and bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) for body composition. Data analysis using prerequisite tests (normality and homogeneity) followed by paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test at a significance level of 0.05. The results of the study proved that the experimental group experienced a significant increase in VO2max from 34.48 to 39.67 ml/kg/min. In addition, there was a decrease in BMI and an improvement in body composition in the form of a decrease in body fat percentage and a statistically significant increase in muscle mass compared to the control group (p < 0.05). In conclusion, the SATAIR intervention was shown to be effective in increasing cardiorespiratory capacity and optimizing the anthropometric profile of soldiers. In practical terms, these findings provide a scientific basis for unit commanders to integrate SATAIR as a standardized physical training curriculum in an effort to maintain the combat readiness of personnel.
