PERAN KELUARGA DALAM MENDUKUNG PERKEMBANGAN ANAK TUNAGRAHITA

Abstract

Children with intellectual disabilities or often referred to as children with mental retardation require special support from various parties, especially the family. This article discusses the role of the family in supporting the development of children with intellectual disabilities, with a focus on emotional, social, and education. Through a qualitative approach, this study collected data from interviews with parents and experts in the fields of education and psychology. The results show that active family involvement in education and children's daily activities greatly influences the development of children's cognitive and social abilities. In addition, emotional support from the family helps children overcome the challenges they face. It can be concluded that the role of the family is very crucial in facilitating the optimal development of children with intellectual disabilities
