Abstract

Abstract: Being a teacher in the 21st centuryis marked by constant and dynamic changes. Do not let the teachers left behind. Good teachers will always upgrade their skills and competences and they should be able to compete in globalization era. Good teacher emerges from their identity, integrity and inwardness. This implies that teacher’s trainings should include the process of identity formation andit is generally accepted that school leaders play a crucial role in teacher’s professional developmet since great teachers help to create great students and influencing students’ achievement. So it is critical to pay close attention on how to train and support both new and experienced teachers. Furthermore,school lays great emphasis on professional development and as an institute supports their staffs or teachers finalcially and with time allowances for their individual choice of professional development. Additionally, the school invites guests speakers, organises professional development days, Special InterestGroups (SIG), workshops and seminars and encourages reflective practice as well as research activities. When it comes to opening up classrooms for observations, reflecting on classroom practice and working on teaching exellence, there appeared to be discordance between the indvidual teacher’s aspirations and actions. Only a few tachers took the initiative to pursue theseimportant areas of professional growth in a systematic fashion. In addition, it is critical for teachers to have ongoing and regular opportunities to learn from each other. Ongoing professional development keeps up to date on new research on how children learn, emerging technology tools for the classroom, new curriculum resources and more. The best professional developmet is ongoing, experiential, collaborative and connected to and derived from working with students and understanding their culture.
