INVESTIGASI UJI NILAI WARNA DAN PERSENTASE FREE FATTY ACID DALAM MENINGKATKAN MUTU CRUDE PALM OIL

Kemurnian minyak kelapa sawit dapat mempengaruhi kualitas crude palm oil (CPO). Kadar Free Fatty Acid (FFA) dan uji nilai warna merupakan indikator yang menunjukkan kualitas CPO. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengamati pengaruh proses bleaching pada CPO terhadap kadar FFA dan colour. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengamatan untuk tujuh sample CPO dengan variasi waktu mulai pukul 18.10 WIB Sampai pukul 03.25 WIB. Pengamatan sample CPO dilakukan pada proses bleaching CPO serta dilakukan pengukuran kadar FFA dan colour CPO di PT. ABC Kota Palembang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semakin lama proses bleaching maka peluang untuk menurunkan warna CPO semakin tinggi. Hal ini disebabkan karena perpindahan massa yang terjadi semakin tinggi menyebabkan berkurangnya warna pada CPO. Nilai FFA yang dihasilkan dari penelitian ini yaitu dibawah 1%. Hasil penelitian ini berimplikasi terhadap peningkatan mutu produk CPO dalam proses bleaching.
