Abstract

ABSTRAK

 

Kata "tato" berasal dari bahasa Tahiti, yaitu "tattau" yang berarti tanda, dalam artian tubuh ditandai dengan alat berburu tajam untuk memasukkan pewarna di bawah permukaan kulit. Tato yang biasa digunakan tato berbentuk pengguna adalah tato eleng, salib, tengkorak, naga, dan bunga. Interpretasi makna tato meliputi, artinya sekuler, makna estetika, arti tato sebagai ungkapan diri, sebagai tato makna filosofis, tato berarti makna konotasi.
