Komposisi Ekstensya for String Orchestra: Studi eksperimental penciptaan musik sebagai strategi pendidikan apresiasi musik klasik di Indonesia

Penciptaan komposisi Ekstensya for String Orchestra karya Setyawan Jayantoro bermula dari observasi. Sebagai seorang komposer, Setyawan Jayantoro melihat perjalanan apresiasi musik klasik Barat di Indonesia yang memiliki segmentasi terbatas. Kajian dalam penciptaan musik ini bertujuan untuk mengkritisi keberadaan musik klasik Barat di Indonesia dalam perspektif umum yang seringkali dipahami dengan kesadaran apresiasi yang kurang tepat. Melalui studi eksperimental, metode penciptaan musik ini menggunakan sejumlah pola kreatif yang merujuk pada sejarah musik Klasik Barat dan kontekstualisasinya dengan cita rasa subjektif komposer sebagai orang Indonesia. Transisi keberagaman gaya dalam lintasan perjalanan musik klasik menjadi stimulasi kreativitas penciptaan musik yang paling mendasar. Metode tersebut mengintegrasikan kombinasi cita rasa dari era-era musik klasik, seperti gaya Barok dan Romantik dengan sentuhan Pop hingga Rock. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Ekstensya for String Orchestra dapat menjadi salah satu strategi pengembangan model pendidikan apresiasi musik klasik untuk masyarakat awam melalui penciptaan musik. Kombinasi estetika musik Barok, Romantik, Pop, dan Rock yang dibingkai dalam semangat kekinian mampu memberikan kontribusi positif bagi terciptanya alternatif pendidikan apresiasi musik klasik di Indonesia.
