Abstract

Penelitian ini mengulas tentang adat istiadat suku Baduy.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan ciri khas yang di miliki masyarakat Baduy melalui kegiatan sehari-hari yang di lakukan. Seperti keunikan rumah adat, berjalan tanpa sendal, tidak di perbolehkan menggunakan alat transportasi seperti motor, dan tradisi lainnya. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan melakukan wawancara dan dokumentasi. Sumber data penelitian ini merupakan hasil wawancara dengan masyarakat Baduy, adapun hasilnya sebagai penambah pengetahuan budaya Indonesia terutama pada budaya Baduy. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, sampai saat ini masyarakat Baduy masih mempertahankan sikap tradisionalnya, jauh dari kemewahan. Rumah adat Baduy dapat bertahan selama empat tahun, dalam empat tahun sekali rumah yang rusak atau sudah tidak layak ditempati akan dibuatkan kembali yang baru dengan bergotong royong dengan menggunakan material membangun rumah adat Baduy diantaranya menggunakan bahan kayu, ijuk, bambu, dan rotan. Kebiasaan masyarakat sangat erat kaitannya dengan aturan adat yang melarang aktivitas masyarakat dalam merusak alam hanya demi untuk mendirikan bangunan, sehingga pembangunan juga  disesuaikan dengan kontur lahan.
