Kostum Tarian Topeng Ireng Kabupaten Magelang Menurut Perspektif Semiotika Charles Sanders Pierce

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui makna dari kostum tarian Topeng Ireng. Tarian Topeng Ireng merupakan salah satu kesenian asli daerah Kabupaten Magelang yang masih berkembang sampai saat ini. Dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif, peneliti membahas makna dari kostum dan aksesoris yang dipakai dalam tarian ini. Sumber data berupa hasil observasi dan wawancara secara langsung dengan pengrajin kostum Topeng Ireng. Teori semiotika Charles Sanders Pierce digunakan peneliti sebagai acuan untuk mengupas makna dari kostum dan aksesoris yang dipakai dalam pertunjukan Topeng Ireng. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, kostum tarian ini memiliki bentuk dan makna yang tidak jauh dari budaya suku Dayak. Kemudian menurut filosofi Jawa kostum ini diibaratkan seperti peribahasa Jawa “Ajining Raga Saka Busana”. Kemudian dari analisis menggunakan teori semiotika Pierce didapatkan tanda, objek, dan interpretan pada kostum tarian topeng ireng. Ditemukan beberapa objek dalam kostum topeng ireng di antaranya kuluk, kace dan rapek, serta krincingan. Kostum tarian ini memiliki peran dalam pertunjukkan tarian di antaranya sebagai identitas karakter tarian, daya tarik visual dan penguatan ekspresi serta gerakan para pemainnya.
