Abstract

This study examined transformational leadership and professional performance among 102 optometry educators in two Indonesian higher education institutions. Using a quantitative survey, data were collected through an expert-validated questionnaire and analysed with descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation. All leadership dimensions and performance indicators were rated at a great extent. Individualized consideration had the highest leadership mean, while professional growth and development had the highest performance mean. Nineteen of 20 correlations were positive and significant, with intellectual stimulation and team collaboration showing the strongest relationship. The findings support leadership development, mentoring, and professional-development programmes in optometry education and provide discipline-specific evidence linking transformational leadership with multidimensional educator performance.
