Organic waste can cause environmental pollution if it is not properly managed. One alternative for organic waste treatment is the use of black soldier fly (BSF) larvae to reduce waste mass. This study aimed to analyze the ability of BSF larvae to reduce different types of organic waste and identify environmental factors associated with their performance. Primary and secondary data were used as sources of information. The results showed that mixed organic waste achieved the highest mass reduction of 59%, compared with vegetable waste, fruit waste, and animal manure. In addition, larvae fed mixed organic waste exhibited greater body weight and length than those in the other treatments. These findings indicate that mixed organic waste has the potential to support both waste mass reduction and larval growth. Therefore, BSF larvae may serve as an alternative for organic waste treatment, potentially reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills while producing larval biomass.Downloads
