The development of social media has influenced the way people communicate, including language use in comment sections. The freedom to express opinions often leads users to produce utterances containing violations of language politeness principles. This phenomenon can be observed in the comment section of Denise Chariesta's TikTok account, where netizens express various responses ranging from support to criticism. This study aims to describe the forms of politeness maxim violations found in the comment section of Denise Chariesta's TikTok account. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method with a pragmatic approach. The data consisted of written utterances containing politeness violations, while the data source was comments posted by netizens on Denise Chariesta's TikTok uploads. Data were collected through documentation and note-taking techniques. The analysis was conducted using Geoffrey Leech's politeness principle, which includes the maxims of tact, generosity, approbation, modesty, agreement, and sympathy. The findings reveal that violations occurred in all politeness maxims, with the approbation maxim being the most frequently violated. The violations were manifested in the form of ridicule, sarcasm, insults, derogatory expressions, and criticism delivered without considering the feelings of the interlocutor. These findings indicate that communication on social media still reflects a low level of adherence to language politeness principles in digital interactions.
