Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of research-based digital e-flashcards in enhancing vocabulary acquisition among English for Hospitality students at the Polytechnic level. Employing a one-group pretest–posttest research design, the study involved sixth-semester students enrolled in the Diploma III (D3) English Study Program at Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya. The instructional materials incorporated hospitality-specific vocabulary to promote contextualized language learning through digital flashcards. Data were collected using vocabulary achievement tests administered before and after the intervention. The findings revealed a substantial improvement in students' vocabulary mastery, with the mean score increasing from 65 on the pretest to 85 on the posttest. These results suggest that digital flashcards effectively facilitate vocabulary learning by integrating active recall, spaced repetition, and contextualized practice. Consequently, the study highlights the potential of technology-enhanced instructional tools to strengthen vocabulary development and better prepare vocational students for effective communication in professional hospitality settings.
