Jakabaring Sport City Lake, Palembang City, is an artificial aquatic ecosystem used for sports and recreational activities and is potentially affected by anthropogenic activities. This study aimed to describe the characteristics of bottom sediments and the physicochemical conditions of water in Jakabaring Sport City Lake, Palembang City. The research was conducted in June 2026 using a descriptive method with purposive sampling at three observation stations. Sediment samples were collected using an Ekman Grab and observed qualitatively. Physicochemical parameters including temperature, turbidity, total dissolved solids (TDS), pH, and dissolved oxygen (DO) were obtained from previous studies conducted at the same location. The results showed that sediment characteristics varied among stations, with colors ranging from dark brown to black and textures ranging from fine mud to sandy mud. Organisms found included dragonfly larvae, mosquito larvae, small worms, red worms, and other insect larvae. Organic materials such as leaves and wood debris, as well as inorganic materials including plastics, straws, and raffia ropes, were also found. Water physicochemical conditions showed temperatures ranging from 27.5–30.3°C, pH 5.7–6.1, TDS 79.5–86 ppm, and dissolved oxygen levels of 7.2–7.6 mg/L. These conditions indicate that Jakabaring Sport City Lake is still capable of supporting aquatic organisms despite the accumulation of organic matter and inorganic waste in bottom sediments.
