Abstract

The increasing use of household electrical energy requires an effective monitoring and control system to prevent energy waste and improve electrical safety. This study aims to design and develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based household electrical load monitoring and control system capable of monitoring voltage, current, and power consumption in real time and controlling loads via a smartphone using the Telegram application. The system employs a microcontroller integrated with a Wemos D1 R1 WiFi module, a PZEM-004T sensor to measure voltage, current, and power, and a relay as an actuator for load control. Sensor data are processed by the microcontroller and transmitted through the Wemos D1 R1 to a Telegram account named “Monitor_IoT”. Testing results show that the sensor operates at a minimum input voltage of 80 V. The largest measurement deviation occurred at 80 V with a sensor reading of 81,26 V (difference of 1.26 V), while the smallest deviation occurred at 220 V with a reading of 220.06 V (difference of 0.06 V). The monitoring and load control system functioned properly during testing via Telegram. Therefore, the developed system effectively performs real-time monitoring and control of household electrical loads based on IoT technology.
