A stable power supply is essential for chicken egg incubators because temperature fluctuations caused by power outages can disrupt embryo development and reduce hatchability. This study aims to design a hybrid power supply system that integrates a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) system as the primary power source during daytime (07:00–18:00 WIB) and the utility grid (PLN) as a backup source at night to ensure continuous energy supply. The proposed system employs a dual-source distribution scheme that separates the 220 VAC heating load from the 5 VDC control system and implements a time-based energy management strategy to optimize solar energy utilization. The system consists of a 100 Wp solar panel, a 12 V 120 Ah lead-acid battery, a 50 A PWM Solar Charge Controller (SCC), a 200 W inverter, an LM2596 step-down converter, and a manual Change Over Switch for source switching. The design results indicate a minimum battery capacity of 28.2 Ah and a 59.55 Wp solar panel to meet the daily energy demand of 225.566 Wh. Experimental results over six days showed that the PV system generated 401.279–516.267 Wh of daily energy. The SCC maintained stable battery charging voltage, the inverter produced an AC output within the allowable PLN voltage tolerance, and the LM2596 converter provided a stable 5 VDC supply for the control system. The manual source-switching mechanism successfully maintained continuous operation of all incubator loads without system reset during power transitions. These results demonstrate that integrating a solar PV system with the PLN grid effectively improves the continuity and reliability of the power supply for chicken egg incubators.
